XP Crashes with Canon F60 Printer/Scanner

Hi, I have Canon Multi Print Scanner F60 and a Dell
GX260 with XP Pro. Most every time I turn on the F60 my
system crashes with a USB exception. I have all of the
Microsoft XP updates including the USB update and have
uninstalled and reinstalled the Canon drivers, and I have
all of the current drivers installed from Dell. I can't
isolate the issue although I assume it is the XP
processing of USB 2.0. Does anyone have any answers? I
also have a USB Optical mouse.

Hi Kim --

This is a bit of a long shot, but is the F60 plugged into your PC via a USB
hub? If it is, is the hub powered (i.e. it has a separate powersource)? If
it's plugged in via a hub, but the hub isn't powered, you may consider
replacing with a powered hub -- these cost about $20. An easy way to test if
this is the problem is try plugging the F60 directly into your PC. I have
seen unpowered hubs cause device initialization problems like you're
describing.

If you don't have a hub, then I'm not sure what you're seeing. The Canon F60
uses Canon's proprietary I/O software to talk to the device, and that could
be the problem -- you might try calling Canon support.

Thanks for the insight, I do not have a hub, it is
direct, but there are multiple usb devices connected.
The screen I get is the XP Blue Screen of Death. Any
other suggestions?
