XP COMMAND PROMPT LOSES TEXT AFTER GRAPHICS DISPLAY

When a graphics program - such as the "colors" distributed with Quickbasic -
has been run, the XP command prompt shows a blank panel. Key entries are not
echoed, DIR just moves the cursor without displaying anything, etc. Issuing
foreground/background color changes has no visible effect. Is there any way
to recover visibility? The batch/program files work fine on Win9x, NT, and
2000.

Using only Quickbasic seems to bring up this issue for you. I would first check with the Tech people that make the program to see if they have a fix for this or at least are they aware of it.

Probably have to close and reopen the instance. QB is perty old and
wasnt intended to be messing with the NT command line colors.

It's from Microsoft and the timestamp on "colors.bas" is "9/22/87
23:05". I don't think it's supported anymore. ;-)
