XP clients joining w2k AD

i am having problems, when we remove XP clients from our NT 4 domain, it
takes ages after I have rebooted to build a domain list. The process we go
through is remove from NT4 domain, put machine into a workgroup and then add
to AD after neccesary reboots but it takes ages to build a domain list on
first logon.

Any help is gladly appreciated

DNS, altogether now, DNS.
AD uses DNS for everything. Make sure "All Machines" are using "Your" AD DNS
server.
