XP booting very slow

Mike

Hi,

Today I ran into some bad luck.
I was formatting a partition with XP Disk managment.
During this operation we had a power failure, only for a few seconds.
I could not restart the computer in any mode.
I tried to restore an image with Drive Image with no luck.
So, next option, a fresh install. I got the message: Partition damaged, try
another partition.
In recovery console I Ran chksdk /r, fixmbr and fixboot.
XP installed fine, but now booting takes forever, especially when it comes
to that line with those iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

And XP will only boot in safe mode, it takes forever.

What could be the problem? HDD and partitions seem all OK to me.
Maybe a Boot(sector) problem, or a hardware problem/ damage due to the power
failure?

Than you for your time,

Mike (Holland)

I would have removed the partition and made a new one, then formatted it. If
I was going to all that trouble.

I think the HDD is damaged..
Deleting the partition didn't help.
Tomorrow I will put it in aother computer as a slave an run a diagnotic
tool. And partition / format the entire disk wih PM.
