XP Boot problem with userinit.exe file.

Hi All,

I have a computer which will boot into XP Home but when it
starts to load a user's profile, there is an error.

The error is userinit.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000005). Click on ok..etc.

I tried booting into safe mode and safe mode with command
prompt with no luck.

I have no background as to when this started as a friend
asked me to look into it. (I program.. totally lost here.)

I looked in the KB but couldn't find anything.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Sue

Log into a different user account, one that has administrative
privileges. Copy the data from the damaged user account to somewhere
you'll find it. Then go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel
and delete the damaged user account. Now make a new user account for
that person and copy the reserved data back. That new account may need
to take ownership of those files (see Help & Support for "take
ownership").

Cheers,

I've tried logging on to every account including the ones
that are administrator. None of them work.

Then try a Repair Install. If the Repair Install doesn't work, be sure
your hardware is good and then format the drive, clean install Windows,
install drivers and programs, restore data from backups. Here are links
for both types of installations:
