XP Blues!!!!!

Hi guys,

Got a serious problem with XP;

Succinctly;

I'm experiencing an auto reboot loop when loading the desktop that I
can't resolve.

It occured after I had done some HW upgrading, PSU, memory SCard etc,
I launched everest monitoring utility for CPU temp and that instigated
the loop, i was gonna clock cpu up to 1.2g (max for mobo). I have had
the HW diagnostics done, passed.

I think the xp sys files are probably corrupt but have lost my disc to
do a repair, I'll probably need to utilise recovery console but would
like others opinions...

Any pointers?

Cheers

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure even after you have
solved the problem as it's better disabled. Check for variants of the
Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise only.

You might try booting after disconnecting all peripherals except
keyboard, mouse and monitor

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips guys, Unfortunatelty though, I should of made it
clearer, the desktop flashes up for less than a second so cannot
access any functionality via desktop. I will try and use the F8 key
suggestions and re-post. Am in a library at mo!!! Think I've gotta
repair some kernel files with genuine disc and prod key!!!! Gutted!!!

thanks a lot
