Xp blue screens and spontaneous reboots with Averatec 3150P

My Averatec 3150P came with XP Professional pre-installed. The ONLY
support disk we get is a complete Ghost of the whole disk - that is,
if you can't restart XP because of a missing system file, you have to
completely re-install XP (and lose any unsaved work.)

This is important to know because I've had to do this twice now. The
main reason seems to be that the system keeps crashing - often right
after I go into any program at all after rebooting - and flashing blue
screens at me. I HAVE learned how to stop on the blue screens, but
aside from being a nuisance, it seems that after this happens a number
of times, one of the system files gets corrupted, and I can't start
period.

When I called Averatec about this, the support guy told me 'XP didn't
install properly'. When I pointed out that my only 'install' of XP was
Averatec's own Ghost disk, he said to just try it again. And if that
didn't work? Try again...
"It's not a hardware problem."

Isn't it?

How frequent are such blue screens on XP laptops? And is there a
standard fix to stop them? Or if anyone thinks this MIGHT be a
hardware problem, what's it likely to be?

Thanks -

What error code is included in the BSOD? Most likely bad system ram , a
hardware problem. Jym
