XP Backup Wizard destination greyed

I have XP Home with backup enabled. After selecting items in the Backup
screen the Backup Destination file is greyed.
When I click Start Backup I get stopped with a warning like this

"The backup file name could not be used.
E\:DM042210.bkf
Please ensure it is a valid path and that you have sufficient access."

Please what should I do to get out of this?

What kind of drive is E? If is is a CD or DVD, then your problem is that
backup cannot access these drives.

The E drive is a CD writer, Teac CD-524E.
It does work correctly by using "save as E:"

What is E:? NTBackup cannot backup to CD or DVD direct, you have to
backup to your hard disk, then burn the backup file to CDR or DVD-R
seperately.

For a proper backup program try Retrospec from Dantz (www.dantz.com).
