XP and autologon problem

Hi all,

I have a weird problem with autologon feature.
I set the winlogon keys to allow autologon of a normal user (not
admin) in a standalone xp box:

- AutoAdminLogon 1
- DefaultPassword 123456
- DefaultUserName LetMeIn

However autologon doesn't work. I then logon manually using these
credentials and I can logon. I then check the winlogon keys and they
are still there (even the AutoAdminLogon value is still set to 1).

What the hell is going on ???
Thank you for your help,
Bar

How to turn on automatic logon in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315231

Click Start>Run and type

control userpasswords2

Clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
check box, then click Apply.
In the "Automatically Log On" window, type the password in the "Password"
box, and then retype the password in the "Confirm Password" box.
Click "OK" to close the "Automatically Log On" window, and then click "OK"
to close the "User Accounts" window.

Thank you very much for your answer. I appreciate it.
The procedure you described does work before I run sysprep. Right
after it, the computer reboots and the autologon disappears ! Have you
tested this with sysprep ?

Thank you
