xp activation

A friend recently replaced his hard drive. Using his Windows XP installation
cd, he re-installed and activated Windows. However, he keeps getting the
message to activate again. He has activated windows XP 3 times in 1 week.
What might be causing this, and how can the problem be solved?

It may be that the activation wasn't properly recorded in the
system's registry. Try this solution, posted by Carey Frisch, MS-MVP:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and
hit enter again.
