Has anyone played with the XML in the microsoft doc

to create their own effects or transitions? Recently I
have had a go but with mixed success.
Some areas like the ageing effects and particle
transitions just don't seem to want to work at all. I
have created a few things that i might use, extra SMPTE
wipes (interestingly though I cannot recreate the
microsoft Circles even though I cut and pasted the code
and then changed the name) and some interesting colour
effects.
I was thinking of including custom effects in a project I
am running at a school but am now having second thoughts.
Has anyone had good experiences dabbling in this area?
