XML and Word 2003

Using a schame to extract data from Word documents is a
way cool feature in 2003. But I have some questions about
it.

If I use a schema to markup a Word document, and that
schema has a targetNamespace defined - When I export the
XML Data from the document Word seems to add xmlns="" to
any elements that are defined locally in the schema.
I didnt' set elementFormDefault to anything in my schema,
and maybe that caused this behavior.

My question is when you load a schema into the Schema
library - it seems not to pay attention to any changes in
the .xsd file. Is there a way to reload the schema?
This seems like it would be a problem in cases where you
are developing the schema and the document at the same
time.

Any ideas?

Hi Harold,

You need to delete it from the schema library, then add it
again. There's no way I know of to force an update. From
what I can tell, Word doesn't actually look at the actual
schema, but makes a copy to the user's profile:
C:\Documents and Settings\[profile]\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Schemas

When you remove the schema from the library, this copy (and
any related Registry entries) are deleted. When you add the
schema to the library, a copy is created in this location.
