XL2000: constantly dragging/highlighting

hey all,

A friend has got a PC which excel keeps highlighting
things.

Its as if sometimes it just starts highlighting cells...
if you move the mouse, it highlights more cells. You cant
close excel, you cant save. I tried the knowledge base,
and couldnt find anything

Any ideas?

This is normally an issue with having a wheel mouse. I primarily happens
when you make changes to the Excel installation, upgrade, etc.

Try re-installing the mouse drivers or updating them if there is a new
release

I work on a laptop with touch pad (no mouse ), but I got
the same problem.

Still try re-installing the touch pad drivers, they are very similar. This
has been a remedy for this problem since Excel 97 and although not everyone
replies back, those that did seemed to fix the problem
