Xerox Workcentre m940 with XP

My last hard drive crashed a few days ago, and I just bought a new one. On
the new drive I am trying to install the Xerox Workcentre m940 printer. I did
one installation wrong, but did a complete uninstall. Cleaned the Print
Spooler, and cleaned every remnant off my computer from my printer. But now
when I try to install it again the correct way, I insert my CD, set it for a
Compact installation, click next, then the whole thing closes just like that.
It didn't show any message about Incompatible Version Installed or anything
like that, it just crashed. The one from the Xerox website doesn't work
either. That on is the one that says that an Incompatible version is already
installed, but yet again, I cleaned everything and restarted my computer, I
even scanned the Registry for empty keys. Please help I would really like to
get this working.

Try a System Restore to a point before you installed the printer software.

As a matter of fact, that download was the one that started the whole
problem. I was able to fix that, and I got the Printing support through USB
working, and that test passes the diagnostics, but none of the other ones do.
And I NEED to be able to scan.
