WUAU Group policy problems

Owen

Hi,

I have been trying to use the WUAU.adm group policy to
point my WIN2K SP4 machines to my SUS server for their
updates. However it does not seem to be working.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Should I
disable the update policy that is theire before I add WUAU?

many thanks.

Owen.

Check this article! It explains how to do it!

Hi,

Thanks for that, I've seen that page and followed the
instructions. But I'm still not sure if it is working
correctly and the clients are going to the SUS server. Is
there a way to check this?

Many thanks,

Owen

Take a look at the Windows Update.log file in the system root folder. It
will tell you what the WUAU client is trying to do.

Once you've verified (by looking at the Windows Update registry keys) that
the policy settings are being delivered to the
client, I'd repost any questions in microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs.

Bear in mind that there's eomwhere around a 24 hour delay before a system
will hit the SUS server. The way I work around this when deploying new
systems is to hard-code the reigstry settings so that the system thinks it's
missed its polling cycle and will poll within minutes of booting.

Cheers

Oli
