WS won't join AD Domain help please

Mike

HI,

I have this workstation which was active on my Active
Directory Network but decommisioned for a while but now
that I'm trying to put it to use, it won't see the domain.

I have changed the Computer Name and joined it to a
Workgroup, restarted and tried to join it to the domain
but it keep saying, the domain isn't available or not
recognized.

My ACtive Directory Servers have DNS:

10.10.10.29
10.10.10.50

which are the IP addresses of those servers and all my
Workstations have static 10.10.10.x IP addressess and the
above as their DNS. All other computers are working fine
and there seems to be no problems with AD.

Can someone please help me resolving this issue please?

Regards,

Mike

You might want to try to ping the server's IP addresses to see first if you
have connectivity. Secondly, you might try to use nslookup to verify that
the DNS servers you are pointing to can in fact resolve the DNS domain name
you are trying to join.

Just a couple things you can try to start.

Can we seen an ipconfig /all from one of your domain controllers and from
this client?

Suspecting a single label name.

try to ping the workstation ip at command prompt, if it
resolves then try to change computer name to something
other than login name. do not log in as administrator at
first, just use admin un and pw to confirm while adding
the ws to the domain.

Would love to see the ipconfig /all of the PDNS and the client and if not
connectivity issue, leaning towards the client not having the right
information.

Thank you all. I will post the IP /config All soon.

IT is from the servers and not the client as I don't have
access to the client machine at this specific time.

Hi,

I installed WINDOWS xp pRO ON TAT WORKSTATION but didn't
resolve my problem. I have network connectivity as the
icon for LAN connection is on and active but I cannot
ping the gateway IP address from that workstation. All
other workstations and servers are fine ans can ping
eachother by IP address or computer name which tells me
the DNS is working fine.

What keeps this WS from joining the domain has puzzelled
me so far. Can you guys hwlp pleae.

All we can do is guess until you post the ipconfig /all from this client and
the DC.

Right now we can't even make a good guess
