Wrong newsgroup but I can't access Vista group

W

Wally Wombat

I have never had any trouble accessing this group, but I have recently
updated to Vista and find it impossible to to get into that group.
The login refuses to work.
The question window fails to initiate and it is as slow as a three legged
donkey.
I have been using my hotmail address that I have had for years.
What am I doing wrong?

The reason you're having such problems is that you are using the web
interface to read this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most
error-prone method there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a newsreader,
such as Outlook Express, which comes with Windows XP or Windows Mail, which
comes with Vista.

You refuse to answer the OP's question.
You are a narrow-minded, old fool.
You know the answer he wanted; I gave it to you, you ignorant swine.

Maybe it's not a refusal. Maybe he just didn't know.

The underlying question is how to successfully access a newsgroup - how to
make a web interface work is only solving a symptom, not the underlying
problem.

You can give a man a dead fish, and solve his current difficulty (hunger),
but if you teach him how to harvest his own dead fish, he won't pester you
anymore.

Bypass that clunk web-interface entirely by accessing the MS newsgroups in
your default newsreader (e.g., Windows Mail in Vista).

Setting up Windows Mail (Vista) to access Microsoft newsgroups

The original link to Vista Discussions IS broken.
After you sign-in, you still can not post, or reply

BUT, the link posted here WORKS.
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx

You scroll down the list to: microsoft.public.windows THEN expand it for
Vista Newsgroups

And it works the same as the broken one; sign in via Hotmail Account.
MS emailed me this link months ago, when it 1st happened.

He does know the answer.
This has happened here, and in the Vista Newsgroups.
I asked him to put it under his FAVS.
He has since told me he is killfiling me over it!
He is a very narrow-minded person!
And I want the Newsgroups to know it.

Phew!

well that's got that one nailed then. Thanks for your help, though I wonder
why Microsoft leaves the link there if it doesn't work??

Thanks again

It's there to give Murphy something to do - it helps to keep him
