Wrong Disk Error on Definitions Update

When I try to update the definitions (WD states 191 days since update - even
though I have just installed the program), I get an error message that states
something about an incorrect disk (%3?) and states I must replace it with the
correct disk. There are no disks involved in these transactions that I know
of. So what do I do? Why am I installing software with definitions that are
out of date by 191 days? Why does the update ask for a disk? The error
message vanishes before I can read or copy it down.

Hello John,

Please follow this 3 simple steps:

1.- Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administratºr.
This is the key!
The installation as an admin is not enough.
You needed to login as an adm!n.

2.- Can you gº to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority
updates), and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature update
with windows defender will fail until you hªve these f!les.

3.- “Windows Defender definitions haven’t been updatedâ€

I am admin. I have downloaded all updates. I get the same incorrect disk
error message.

Isn't this all rather absurd? MS is doing itself no favors here even if beta.
