Wrong Contact folder as default

J

John Michl

I recently bought a new computer. I installed Outlook 2003 SP2 on the
new computer. I also copied the Outlook PST file over from the old
computer so I still have all of my old e-mail and contacts. If I click
on the contact tab, I see the contacts but I can find them when
clicking on TO in an e-mail message. I would imagine that something is
not pointing to the right location.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi John,

in Outlook under "Tools/Addressbook/Tools/Options" you can change the
"default contact folder".

No you can't. You can change the search order of the contacts enabled as
address books, but that doesn't change the default contact folder.

The real problem is, I believe, either that the OP has not enabled the
contacts folder in the added PST as an address book, or he's like the old
PST to be the delivery location. Perhaps the OP will share that
information.

Hi Brian,

the question was:

"but I can find them when clicking on TO in an e-mail message. I would
imagine that something is
not pointing to the right location."

Maybe the definition "Wrong Contact folder as default is not 100% correct,
but the question was "How to change the contact folder, that is listed if he
clicks on the "To" field.

The question should be "How to change the contact folder that is listed at
first, if I click on the "To" field.

then my answer is correct, IF the contact folder is added as Outlook
Addressbook.
I believe, either that the OP has not enabled the contacts folder in the
added PST as an address book, or he's like the old PST to be the delivery
location.

Maybe both. ;-)

and maybe he would like to change also the "delievery folder" to the old PST
and which to delete the new PST.
I also copied the Outlook PST file over from the old
computer so I still have all of my old e-mail and contacts

or he wants to export his old emails and contacts into the new PST file. A
lot of possibilities ;-)

We will see if we get further information.
