Write protection

Hi can anyone please help. When i try and download my pictues of my
camera through the memory card on to my laptop, i keep having a
message saying they are write protected and what ever i press it won't
go away. Don't know what this means or how to remove it(write
protected). Very new to computers so don't know all the jargon.

if your camara uses a separate SD card or simlilar, they have a security lock
