hello i am wondering if this is a case of not enough power on my
computer.
i have 4 cd roms, 2 fans that does not include the power suppy fan.
and i have 3 harddisks it all worked fine untill i changed one of the
harddisks from a 30gig to a 80 gig. (all the harddisks are MAXTOR)
i started hearing this strange clicking and metal hitting. and then i
get a strange write error message on the bottom of my screen i was
wondering what is causing this. if you need anymore information please
ask i will get it right away and post it.

thank you.

You definitely need a beefy power supply in your system with all those
devices. However, it is unlikely that the error is occurring because of
this. It sounds more like your hard drive has failed. To test, open the
computer and run it open. This will enable you to determine from where
the clicking is coming. If you are sure it is not coming from one of
the fans, then you should test the hard drive.

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility from the mftr. Usually you
will download the file and make a bootable floppy or cd with it. Boot
with the media and do a thorough test. If the drive has physical
errors, replace it.

I doubt it's a power issue, but it might be worthwhile to find out what
power supply you have in it. I'll go ahead and pronounce your hard
drive as being among the deceased.. time of death 9:56 ECT.
