Norton has notified me of a virus named Backdoor.Hacarmy. Anything out
there that can fix this? Apparently it is in a file at
C:/Windows/System32/wpc.exe and I'm unable to delete it.

Thanks for your help,

I tried to upload it, but I keep getting an error page. I'm pretty sure
it's a virus, not a hoax because my computer starts slowing down and takes a
long time to switch between windows and I get warnings that I'm low on
virtual memory. I found a fix in symantec which requires modifying the
registry, but when I navigate to the key in safe mode and look for
"IPConfig" = "ipconfigs.exe" in the panel to the right which I'm supposed to
delete, it's not there.

I know that the computer slow downs aren't and if I leave my computer on for
any length of time, I'm unable to save files with updated information.
Every time I restart my computer Norton displays the virus alert prompt.

Thanks for responding,
Dean

I tried to email it, but when I sent the message, outlook express displayed,
some of the attached files were not found . . . and the only file I had
attached was wpc.exe. After checking my sent folder, the attachment wasn't
included in the message I sent.
Last night I scanned my computer with hijacker which found a virus in my
registry, but it didn't say what it was and they wanted $29.95 to download a
fix. I wouldn't object to the $$, but I don't want to buy something that
isn't going to work or it's unnecessary.

Try uploading it to McAfee at www.webimmune.net.

Sorry Art, but they do require your email address ...

Download the free Escan av Toolkit ustility via my web site and scan
with that. It's an excellent scanner based on KAV. You should also be
using Spybot and AdAware (links at my web site).

Art,

I have a question regarding the above actually KavUp
(or whatever the name).

Is there a way to control where KavUp puts the .set and .avc's?
Does it always get the entire Set?
I currently Wget only the newer files.

MWAV comes with its own updater called KAVUPD.EXE. It only works with
a specific folder C:\Downloads. When you d/l via my web site, I offer
a small utility which contains 7Z.EXE. That automatically extracts the
files from MWAV.EXE to C:\Downloads.
