Would file size cause data loss?

The attorney I work with has an IBM ThinkPad - working with Outlook 2003,
Windows XP Pro. He frequently has contact data losses. He has 4,000
contacts in Outlook, and the .pst file size is probably ~5GB.

He will periodically open up his contacts and will notice that ALL the Home
addresses for each contact is missing, for example. Another time, he lost
all his Notes fields.

Any thoughts on this?

5GB is reasonable for an Outlook 2003 file, but I would recommend that he run
the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) against it while Outlook is closed, to
see if it finds any errors. He should allow the tool to create a backup of
his .PST file before it makes any changes.
