Workstation Hanging

Setup: Dell PIII-1Ghz, 384RAM, Windows2000 SP4. 2 User
accounts: Scott (Administrator), Lisa (Power User).

Problem: If I'm logged in as Scott and lock the
workstation, after 2 minutes the screensaver kicks in, and
after 20 minutes of inactivity the monitor shuts off. When
I come back and move the mouse, I would expect the monitor
to come on, the screensaver to quit, and Windows2000 to
display the "This workstation is in use and has been
locked. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to unlock..." message. Instead,
the monitor turns on, the screensaver quits, and
Windows2000 locks up, displaying my previous bitmap image
(see KB Q236369), and the mouse pointer (which is frozen
and doesn't respond), but nothing else. The only way to
solve this problem is to hard reboot the pc, and the
problem doesn't occur when no one is logged in. Anyone
have suggestions? This PC is otherwise very stable, and I
always install the windows update hotfixes.

DO NOT allow the monitor to turn off.
DO NOT allow the hard disks to turn off.
DO NOT allow the system to go into standby.

Implement the above and you'll have no further problems.
