Workstation and Netlogon Service halting

Anthony

Hello,

I have a dumb question, but I figured I'd post it here none-the-less.

On one of our SQL boxes last night, the workstation service was not able to
start. I checked login using, and it's using the LocalSystem account, so I
left well enough alone, and bounced the box.

Came back up, and all services relying on the Workstation server died,
including netlogon. What would cause this to happen? By netlogon failing, it
caused one of our SQL 7 boxes to fail, thus causing a domino effect thruout
the server farm.

Any idea why the Workstation service would just stop?

Hi Anthony,

Not enough information to pin point this, such as evetns in the event. But the Workstation
Service is Client for Microsoft Networks. Try uninstalling Client for Microsoft Networks, reboot,
reinstall and then reboot. See if this resolves the issue.

This can also be caused by a virus or some corrupt files. Due to the nature of the issue,
suggest you call in for Support as they will need to collect information off the server to resolve
this if the above does not work.

Thanks,
Gary
