Worksheet tab names greyed out?

All of a sudden, no matter which file I open in Excel, the worksheet tab
names are greyed out. If I double click on the title of the tab, the title
appears highlighted in black, as soon as I deselect the name of the tab, it
goes back to greyed out. So if I want to swtich from one tab to another, I
have to double-click to highlight the name of the tab in order to read it.
Can anyone help? I haven't done anything like protect the worksheet or share
it...

Are you using 2003 or 2007?

in 2003, try format ->sheet ->tab color (try to change to other color see it
will solve your problem)
