Working in groups

Hi,
We work from different locations and so we are trying to set up a
situation where someone in another location can 'publish' the latest
version of a website using 'publish changed pages only' from the main
server back to their pc. They can then work on it and re-bublish the
changes back to the working version on the server. The next person can
then do the same from another location.

We tried this with a small website but are having trouble with one very
large site of maybe 600meg.

We have published up the latest version so the remote and local files
ought to be in sync. However, when we publish from the remote server
FP tries to publish all sorts of files and then kicks us out with the
familiar message "can't find a server on port 80".

Any idea what we are doing wrong please ? We use FP 2002.

David.

A 600 meg site is usually that big because of large media files (not because of large html files)
- some hosts / servers have problem w/ files over 1 MB

Have you considered breaking the large web up into smaller FP subweb
- ideally by moving all your large media files to a subweb (say named Media)

PS
Just be aware that unless the multiple authors are careful one can overwrite another if they both have downloaded and publish their
changes before checking if another author has also published up any changes since their download (publish to local)
- another good reason to have separate subwebs (by author) and definitely to have multiple FP user ids
