Hello:

I run a small (4 PC) netwoerk at home, I access the Web though a DSL
Firewall Router. I had no problems with seeing and accessing the other PC's
thought the net, untill recently. I had 2 XP Pro's and 2 Wind 2000's on the
network. Now I just bought a PC with XP Home on it and removed both of the
Window's 2000. My PC can see the new pc XP home and the other XP Pro, but
the XP home PC can not see anybody of the net, but it can access the internet
fine. I can not access the XP Home at all. We can not share the net work
printer or files. When I run the Home Networking wizard it doesn't do a
thing. When I look for the check box to undo simple file sharing on the XP
Home, it isn't there. I have tried everything that I can think of to get the
XP Home fully network in my work group, and yes I did check, we are all on
the same work group.

Any suggestions or fixes for this would be greatly appreciated.

I have done everything, and still no response in fact the other PC can not
even run
ipconfig/all. I am wondering if there is a minor check box somewhere that
has to be either cleared of check for this to work. I am almost ready to run
restore.

Mark,

You can't undo Simple File Sharing in Windows XP Home. Sorry.

If you're having problems seeing one computer from another, you're having a
problem with the Browser (which is NOT the program that you surf the web from).
You probably have a problem with SMBs, and with NetBT.

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

Absolutely accurate. BTDT! Also, don't rely on on-screen messages: Go
right to your firewall logs and look for blocks there on each machine; it
could be either one causing the problem. As I found out, the hard way<G>
