Workdocuments template in Startup folder in 2007

I was receiving an error message every time I'd open up 2007--about how this
template couldn't be opened. I removed it from the startup folder and all is
well. However, I'm wondering about the name, workdocuments, and why it was
there (if it was giving 2007 grief). When using 2003, I used a file I that
gave me a Work menu on my menu bar, allowing me to pin favorite documents to
that menu. Is this the document/file that I used? If so, I'll be sure not to
delete it, but just move it somewhere out of the way. If its nothing but
cyber-clutter, I'll delete it.

Your suppositions certainly sound correct.

The Work menu (http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/WorkMenu.htm) cannot
exist in Word 2007 in the same way as in Word 2003, because the whole menu
system has been removed. The functionality of the Work menu is replaced by
the ability to pin documents in the recently-used list on the Office button,
by clicking the pushpin icons.

It really shouldn't have required a separate Startup template to create the
Work menu in 2003. As the article explains, all the necessary items could be
stored in Normal.dot. But the template would be a simple way to distribute
the items to other people without making them go through the steps of
creating them.

Bottom line: If you no longer have any version of Word earlier than 2007,
you can delete the workdocuments.dot template.

OK. I'll shove it into a folder, and when I finally delete 2003 I'll do the
same with this.

Thanks, Jay.
