Work File error message

I am using Office 2007 Home and Student. All the products seem to work fine
except Word - this is new. When I open Word, the following error message
appears: "Cannot create the work file. Check the temp environment
variable." Word will eventually open, but I cannot save a new document; nor
can I save at all if I open an existing document. Save function is a
perpetual error with yes or no (do you want to save changes?). Only way out
is to hit cancel.

I have downloaded all available updates, including malicious virus checker
from MS. I have also attempted to make repair with installation CD.

This problem persists when opening files on my HD and thumb drive.

Any ideas how to fix this?

This isn't going to help you, but I also have been getting this error message
for the past few months. I purchased the program last fall and I'm very
disappointed that this is occuring. The frustration is that the 90 day free
support has expired and of course this didn't happen in the first 90 days,
but it seems that we should get support for this as it seems to be an
inherent problem with the software - not the user. Anyway, I've done what I
know to do - virus software installed, upgraded my memory to 2 GB,
re-installed the software, cleared out my temp files - nothing has solved
this problem. Nice to pay $149++ for a program that is faulty.

Someone out there please help!
