WordPerfect 9 to Word 2002 migration

Hi,
The organization I work for made the decision to migrate
from Corel WordPerfect 9 to Word 2002. I am responsible
for making this transition as easy as possible.
I am currently working with options to convert "simple"
WordPerfect documents to Word format. I've used
WordPerfect's Save As feature, which has worked
well. I simply save the document as a Word 97/2000 type
document, give it a title, press OK, and va-voom. I have a
nice Word document that needs little adjustment. Using
this method, fonts and formatting convert well for the
most part. The dilemma is that this method is 1 document
at a time. An astronomical project when some staff
maintain multiples of hundreds, a few even into the
thousands of documents. To date, I've been unable to find
a macro for WordPerfect to automate/batch this conversion
process, and I lack the know-how to design such a macro.
To my knowledge, WordPerfect lacks built-in support for
batch-converting documents to Word format.
I've tried using the batch conversion wizard in Word
2002 to convert the files. It works, but fonts/formatting
(especially fonts) don't translate very well. I also tried
DataViz Conversions Plus 6.05, and got approximately the
same result.
At this point, I'm using Word's batch conversion to
convert the files to Word format. What I would like help
with is applying a template or a style to multiple
(preferably) documents at once, or at least to a whole
document. I hope it's clear what I'm seeking; please let
me know if you need more detail.
I greatly appreciate your input.
