If yo are referring to teh recently opened list at Office button>New or
File>new in older versions, there is a way to clear this history list.
Office Button>Advanced Word options> Display> Number of recent documents to
display-- set this to zero> OK button and exit Word. When you reopen, your
histoiry list is empty, now repeat teh process and set teh number of iles to
yoru preference. Word begins teh history list over.
