When I cut information from a web page or another document and try to paste it into a Word XP document, I get a symbol instead, it looks kind of like a cell phone. Anyone know how to get paste to paste the info that was cut? Thanks in advance

Copy it, click "Edit", "Paste special", "Unformatted text". See if that
works.

Hi John

Other people have reported seeing a cell phone appear when they try to
paste in Word 2002. What you're seeing may be the new Paste Options
button (it is supposed to be a picture of an old-fashioned clipboard).

See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/HowPasteOptionsWorks.html for
details.

Hope this helps.

Hi Shawna
Thanks for you suggestion, but this is not the clipboard that your article discribes. I do get the clip board and it's drop down list and this cell phone symbol is not it. If you recopy and repaste, then you get the proper text. When I paste for the second time. I did find another person with the exact same problem tonight, when I was looking to see if I had any answers to my question. The cell phone includes the expansion dots that you can use to enlarge or shrink the image. If you click on it, you only get the option to change the picture properties. I do have bluetooth driver's installed on my computer, so I was wondering if that had anything to do with this.

Hi John,

I believe it is an add-in from Bluetooth. There have been several
similar reports but so far I no one has confirmed a solution, other
than uninstalling the software.

So far none of the typical searches for the add-in have been fruitful
but it doesn't hurt to check them again:

- Take a look under Tools/Templates and Add-ins and see if you have
any global templates/add-ins installed. If found they will be one of
your Startup folders. The location of the Word Startup folder can be
found under Tools/Templates and Add-ins and the Office\Startup folder
is located in the Office installation path. Move the files out of the
folder to prevent them from loading when Word starts.

- In Word go to Help/About Microsoft Word and click the "System Info"
command. Navigate to Office 10 Applications\Microsoft Word 2002\COM
Add-ins and check the listed add-ins. If you find one from Bluetooth
then search for the file and rename it to prevent it from loading.

If that doesn't work then download the Process Explorer from:
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml

- Start Word
- Run the Process Explorer utility
- In the upper pane select Winword.exe
- Locate the "View DLLs" command in the Toolbar (if you see View
Handles then View DLLs is already in use)
- In the lower pane locate the DLLs and see if you can determine which
DLL could be causing the issue. The Description and Company Name
columns may help you out. (Click the Name column heading to sort)
- Locate the path for the DLL in a column on the right
- Once found exit Word and rename the DLL to prevent it from loading.

Note it is best to rename the file extension rather than the file
name.

If you can not determine if a DLL is needed by the application then
use File/Save As to save a copy of the data as text. Then you can
copy/paste the DLLs from the Notepad for us to take a look at.

Hi John,

I have received confirmation in another newsgroup that the add-in is a
Bluetooth DLL causing the problem. The Process Explorer should help
you identity it.

I've asked the other poster for the name of the DLL but if you find it
could you please provide the name for us? It would be of great help
for others encountering the same issue. Thanks!
