At the moment I am only able to maximise or minimise my WORD window. When I
try to make it go to half size to move to my other screen, it minimises. How
can I reset this?

Managed to sort it.

You can use the 'move' right-click menu option in conjunction with the
arrows on your keyboard, so even if the blue bar is off-screen, you should
be able to bring it back on-screen.
