Word should allow words to be labelled as names

Oftentimes while writing a document I will use the name of a person or place
and either have to Add it to my custom dictionary, or select to ignore it
each time I run spellcheck during a new session. In addition, any other uses
of it (Aberdeine... Aberdeine's) must also be added or ignored. It would be
nice if Word maintained a list of names so that i could right-click, select
"Add to Names" or something similar and subsequently never cause it to come
up in spellcheck, accept normal name usages, and even capitalize the name for
you, barring it existing as an actual word

That looks like an excellent suggestion to me.

Until/unless it gets implemented, a way to implement it would be to create a
character style called Names (for example), which has been set to "Do not
check spelling or grammar". Then apply that style. You could even add "Apply
Name Style" to the right-click context menu so that it's as convenient as
your suggestion.

When I used to include programming statements or other technical crap in
document, I created a spelling-turned-off style called Programming, and
applied it to sections to prevent Word from bothering with those sections.
