Word sample document templates

We have custom templates that we created and use, but all of those tabs show
up AFTER the Fax, Letter, Resume sample templates that come with Word upon
installation. I want to get rid of those and only show my custom templates.
How do I make those go away?

What version of Word? In Word 2003 and earlier, you can get rid of the
"installed templates" that ship with Word by uninstalling them. In Word 2007
you're apparently stuck with them.

It's 2007-- and not what I wanted to hear. But thank you anyway.

Interestingly, a QAT button for New Document or Template... includes all the
tabs (in the familiar New dialog), whereas Office Button | New | My
Templates... has just your tabs. Now I've got to figure out if there's some
way to add *that* to the QAT instead of the one with everything!

When we first installed 2007 it opened to the other screen with My Templates
as a choice and I do remember that those annoying templates were in a
separate window. Our IT team got rid of that, but now they show up as
tabs...

Apparently New... (which opens the window that offers My Templates...) and
New Document or Template... are the only choices (aside from New, which just
creates a new Blank Document based on Normal.dotm).

I'm hoping there will be a fix for this. We have tons of templates and with
those unnecessary tabs, it pushes some of ours into the "more" category. Our
users are very visual people, if they don't see it, it doesn't exist.

I agree it's really annoying. Users might find it easier to use a two-step
process: put the New... button on the QAT and let them then click My
Templates...

BTW, the basis of my assumption that the installed templates can't be
uninstalled is the exchange between me and Graham Mayor that is quoted at
http://help.lockergnome.com/office/Removing-templates-Word-2007-ftopict1003157.html.
If there's any official word from MS about this, I haven't seen it.
