Word Problem That's Really WEIRD!!!

Gordon Keenan

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong location, but I did not know what
section this problem would come under, so I opted for here!!

We have three PC's logged into a Windows Domain.
All PC's run Office 2000

The problem I have is that one of the PC's (Windows Xp Professional) that
runs Word 2000, when you open up any of the dialogue boxes, they jump behind
the main application screen and you need to keep task switching, or clicking
the flashing icon at the bottom of the screen to get it back.
Using SAVE AS, the box just jumps behind the main Word screen.... This only
happens with WORD!

I've checked for sticky keys, pop up blockers etc.. there is nothing
different on this PC, from the rest.....

Can anyone HELP me here to try and save my sanity?

Gordon,

I believe the standard line is this can be caused by one
of two issues:

1. Word is started by using the Quick Launch toolbar in
the Windows Taskbar.

2. Norton AV is creating a conflict.

Fix for Issue 1. Obtain SP2 for Office XP. Note that SP1
needs to be
installed first. As a workaround, do not use the Quick
Launch bar to start
Word.

Fix for Issue 2. Disable the "Office Plug-in" option in
Norton. Go to
"Options" and then select the "Miscellaneous" section.
