Word Font Selection Preview

I don't know what I've done but... it used to be that if I highlighted text,
clicked on the Format menu and selected Font, I would see my text in the
preview window as it would appear in the selected font. That has stopped
working.

I am able to see the actual fonts in the font list from the drop down -- but
not in the preview box/window when I go through the format menu.

Any suggestions on how to fix/restore.

Hi

Do you use Arabic or Hebrew or other non-Latin languages? If not, then one
possible cause of this is extraneous Office languages.

Close Word, then do Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft
Office Tools > Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings (or some similar
route, depending on your version of Windows and Office, and how you have
Windows set up.)

Now, delete any languages you don't need.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for such a timely response. Your response answered my
question. My only difficulty is that those are the steps that I'd already
tried. English (U.S.) is the only one that shows up in the Enabled languages
window.

However, what I have noticed though is that the Microsoft Office Proofing
Tools tab lists Arabic and Hebrew. Will "uninstalling" the proofing tools
help? I'm not able to uninstall from the Add/Remove panel and I haven't been
able to figure out how to turn it off.

Any additional suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated.

Hi

I don't know enough about the Office Proofing Tools to help you here. I've
cross-posted this message to the
microsoft.public.word.international.features newsgroup. Someone there may be
able to help.
