Using Word 2000, Office XP-Pro, and Adobe 6.0

Is there a way to convert a Word document to a PDF either starting in Word
or starting in Adobe Reader?

If you only have Adobe Reader, no. If you have Adobe Acrobat 6.0, then
yes, you can print to the Acrobat PDFWriter "printer" or Acrobat
Distiller "printer" to create a .pdf file, or you can click on the
"Create Adobe PDF" button on the Acrobat toolbar in Word. There are a
number of programs that are similar to Adobe Acrobat but cost less (some
are free). CutePDF has been recommended here, and there are others.
Try googling for them.

Thanks for the information. I was at a loss as to where to start.
Everything I found doing a web search seemed to point to the purchase of a
third-party converter. I'll give your suggestions a try.

Thanks ------------- Bonnie

Also nice to know: OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) is a free Office
suite (from Sun), you can do most things in OpenOffice that you do now
in MS Office (OO supports MS Word and Excel files, for example).
An OpenOffice can save files to PDF, without any special conversion
software.
