Word disappears unless it is maximized.

Unless I have the window maximized, I cannot view a document in word. HELP!
I think I had this happen one other time but I can't remember what I did to
fix it and searching all of the help hasn't turned up an answer. If I
maximize, I can see the document -- if I then click on the maximize button
again to 'un-maximize' it -- the window disappears and I can't see it
anywhere. I then have to right click at the word object on the task bar and
select maximize. Any suggestions??

If the Taskbar button shows Maximize and Minimize but not Restore, then your
document is probably open in a Normal window offscreen. Open any other
window, then right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar and choose Cascade,
which should bring your Word window back in view. Use the mouse to move and
size it to your preference, then quit Word. When you restart Word, the
window should be where you left it.

This actually didn't work -- I thought it would but the cascade didn't bring
the window back into view. Any other suggestions??

I had the same problem. Here is the actual solution:

"Restore the max'ed window using the "square" control in the upper right.
This will
make the window "disappear". Right-click the taskbar icon for that missing
window, click Move on the menu that appears. Then use the arrow keys till you
see an outline of part of the window appear onscreen somewhere.

Try the right arrow key for 10 seconds, then the left for 20. Try the up
arrow for
10, then the down arrow for 20. Increase the number of seconds on each try:
20
seconds with the left, then 40 with the right. It may be so far off in any
direction that it will take quite a bit of time to see a portion of it in
outline,
edge back onto the screen.

The reason for doubling the time in the opposite direction is to get back to
"square
one" and then go a equal time from there, in the other direction.
