Word count in tables

O

OM

How do I count words in just a certain area of a table. If I have 3 column
table, and select just one column, word count gives the count for the whole
table. Same happens if I select just one cell - I get the count for the
whole table.

Thanks

Hi Rob,

The word count in the "Tools" menu seems to be ok if a whole row or the
whole table is selected.
It's also ok if a single cell without the end-of-cell marker is selected.

In other cases (selecting some column for example), I get the total number
of words in the document (same as if I don't select anything).

As a work-around, you could copy the column or the selected cells into a
new document, and do a word count there (and subtract 1 for the paragraph
mark that follows the pasted table).

You might also write some feedback to
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp asking to fix that.
In theory, the more feedback MS gets about some bug or nuisance, the more
likely it's going to get fixed.

Regards,
Klaus
