Word closes when closing a document

Don

I have a user who reports that whenever he closes a document in word (File -
Close) it closes out Word altogether. I do not have that problem nor do any
other users. Does anyone know why this would be happening....is there some
setting somewhere that I can set so the user can keep Word open after he
closes out a document?
Thanks.

FYI, I am not an Office guru so I apologize if there is a simple solution to
this problem that I am overlooking.

Yes - the user can learn to use the Close button located in the Office
Button Menu.(add it to the Quick Access Toolbar)

OR

You can go to the Office Button, Word Options, Advanced / Display: Clear
the checkmark from "Show all windows in Taskbar"

There is a drawback to the above method. When your user has multiple
documents open - he/she will only see the document that is currently
active in the taskbar. To switch between document it will be necessary
to use the Switch windows in the View tab. (Again, I would suggest
adding that to the Quick Access Toolbar)

Therefore, there is a learning curve in either direction.

Hope that helps.
