Word 97 Save copy...

Everytime I try to open a word document I get a pop up window, asking if I
would like to save a copy of it.
How do I get rid of this pop up?

This sounds like a macro of some kind...

If you go to the Windows START button, choose "Run" and type:
winword.exe /a

This should start Word in SAFE MODE - meaning with the installation defaults.
Does the message still pop up?
