Word 2007 | Original 'Created Date'

K

Karan

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to obtain the original created date
of a document that I download on a machine from the intranet.
It currently picks up the date the document is downloaded, rather than the
actual date that it was created (and uploaded).

This is a bit critical for me, and I would appreciate any and every pointer
to get an answer for this please.

Many thanks,
Karan

You can get the original creation date stored in the document - which may or
may not be the same thing:

The document probably has a date field which shows the system date. What you
need to do is change the date field(s) for createdate field(s) - ALT+F9
change { DATE } or { TIME \@ "d MMM yyyy" } to { CREATEDATE \@ "d MMM
yyyy" } then F9 and ALT+F9 - and change the date in your letterhead template
so that future letters based on it show the correct dates. The switch \@ "d
MMM yyyy" may be different at your location.
