Word 2003 Tools -> Options and Task Panes

Since a couple of weeks ago all the tabs in Tools/Options are blank - not a
single option - and some task panes (for instance, the style formatting pane)
not turn up.

Please, does anyone know what has happended? and how I can get it back? (a
permission problem?) I had my last update mid-May and it is a registred copy.

Tanks in advance

Thanks! Sorry, it doesn't work - but I have created a new Window user and
using Word with that user works fine - can it be anything wrong with th
registry for that user or the normal.dot file (I have tried to delete that
file but with no success)?

As discussed in the article, usually it's the Data key in the registry that
has been damaged; and it's user-specific, stored in the profile. If you have
to recreate the user profile in Windows it could be a more serious registry
issue for that user.

Note that in order to find normal.dot, you can perform a search in Windows
(after you've exited Word), but you have to search hidden files and folders.
Also, it is recommended to rename it rather than delete it, just in case it
has items (such as AutoText or macros) that you want to restore later. When
the file is missing, Word will create a new one, with the default settings,
on the next startup.

Well, I removed that key with no success. There are also a number of 8.0 and
10.0 office entries and I renamed by adding a B to the key. I have also run
Registry Easy for house-keeping. And, I am sorry to say, no success still no
options and still some panes don't show up.

I might need to move everything from the "faulty" user to a fresh one - but
I am quite busy and longing for a quick solution.

Stefan, I look forward for any idea to easy sort out this problem.

Well, for Word 2003, the key should be
\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data (the version
number is 11). The assumption is that that user has logged in.

However, if deleting the Data key does not help, it may be necessary to
recreate the entire user profile.
