Word 2003 toolbars disappear when opening an Attachment

I have one of our computers in the office with Word 2003 set as my Email read/edit program. Whenever i double click on a word attachment in a message sent this computer, Word 2003 opens but the standard and formatting toolbars are closed and the E-mail toolbar is open. I tried closing ALL toolbars in word and then reopening the attachment to see if anything different happened and yes, the E-mail toolbar was open again and not the Standard and Formatting ones. I attempted to repeat these actions on other computers, but the email toolbar does not open automatically and other toolbars do not close automatically. I'm pretty sure the problem is isolated to this one computer but i could be wrong.

Testing Rich Text vs. HTML mode did not change the outcome.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

You could try deleting your NORMAL.DOT file.

This is the template that is used to open a word document.

The Normal.dot file will be recreated automatically when
open a new document.
