Word 2003 on WindowsXP changes video color quality

I have a client with both WP12 and Microsoft Word 2003 (Not the entire office
pack). Everytime she runs Word her monitor switches from her current colors
(16 bit i believe) to 8bit. Once she cloes word the colors quality bit
switches back to the normal one. Does anyone have a clue why it would do
this? Its driving me nuts.

Thanks!

Word can be a bit fussy about screen drivers, so your first option is to
update the screen driver to the latest. If that doesn't fix it reduce the
display's hardware acceleration. However, are you sure that the screen is
switching to 8 bit? Have you checked the display properties when this
occurs? What are the symptoms?

I guess I can update the intel video driver. Yes I am sure I click on display
properties on the desktop and the colors is set to 8bit (forgive me I'm not
in front of the pc that does this). The screen goes black for a sec like its
changing when I open Word. Then the display is 8bit. When I close Word it
goes back and then changes back to the bit it was at before I opened. I've
verified it with display properties so I know I'm not going crazy.

Some Intel video drivers have been a bit naff. The more recent ones are
better. Let's hope that this fixes the problem.

I think we should cross that bridge if we come to it, but I have not seen
this particular problem before.
