Word 2003 keeps freezing...

I have Office Word 2003 on my computer, using Windows XP. Recently, Word
keeps freezing every time I try to use it. It won't freeze right away...but
the only thing I can do without it freezing is type. If I try to do anything
else (select options, manage font, insert tables, etc.), it freezes. I get
an error message, and the program closes, restarts, and freezes again. I
have no idea WHY this is happening...if someone could help me figure out what
might be wrong and how to fix it, I would be grateful.

If you experience the problem when you try to print or Print Preview, or
when you access the Font, Paragraph, Style, Page Setup, or Symbol dialog
(that is, all those that require Word to consult the printer driver), the
likelihood is that the printer driver is damaged or unavailable. Make sure
that you have a printer driver installed locally and selected as the
default; if so, then try deleting and reinstalling this printer or selecting
a different one.
