Word 2003 installation problem

I have been using Office 2003 for several years. I received a trial offer for
Office 2007, so I installed it. When the trial period was about over, I tried
to remove the package from my hard drive. It didn't seem to work.

Now when I start Word 2003, and especially if I use CTRL C to copy
something, I get a window that says "Preparing to install". I can't get rid
of it.

I have tried using "Repair" from the original 2003 CD, and also did a
complete re-installation of Office 2003. But the problem remains. I've even
tried renaming the file PRO11.MSI but the message still comes up.

What can I do to get rid of it?

Note that I have many macros (that still work) created for this application.
I was also receiving this message in a few other applications, but haven't
been using those lately, so I don't know if it's still affecting them or not.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Windows Installer has a bit of a obsessive compulsive tendency. If an
installation gets interrupted, or you don't restart after installing, the
registry entries can get messed up. I know several other programs that cause
the installation window to appear, and on one of my computers it happens
every time I try to start one of the Office 2003 products. There is a program
from Microsoft that lets you remove installation data such as those that are
stuck in the add/remove programs window after a program's installation data
is deleted. It may help, search the download area for Installation clean-up
or something of that sort.
