Word 2003 Hyperlink exe

We have a program that restricts what can be executed under a user login.
With that feature running our users can't access links in Word documents.
They get an error message: "This operation has been canceled due to
restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system
administrator". If I disable the exe protection then it works fine. Is
there an exe that needs to run in order for hyperlinks to work? We are using
Word 2003 sp2. I've tried Reset Web Options in IE, making changes to Word
settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, _IE_ (actually: your default browser) is the EXE.

I fear the answer will be outside of the Word realm. Best ask this in a
newsgroup for your OS.
